We are done confusing obedience with holiness.
For generations, women have been taught that being good means being quiet, agreeable, forgiving, patient, and willing to endure.
More and more women are questioning those teachings and asking who they served. We believe patriarchal systems have too often used religion to make submission sacred and resistance sinful.
We honor women who were killed by violence. We stand with women who survived it. We remember women whose resistance was punished, criminalized, or erased.
We believe survival can be sacred. Anger can carry truth. Boundaries can be sacred. Leaving can be sacred. Resistance to domination can be sacred.
Our lives are ours. Our voices are ours. Our bodies are ours. Our power is ours.
How we gather as a church
Our church services are not traditional sermons. They may include ritual, reflection, storytelling, remembrance, music, prayer or meditation, community care, and the honoring of Saints of Resistance.
